YouthWorks is a state-funded youth employment program that helps teens and young adults get the skills and experience needed to find and keep jobs.
Participants who take part in the YouthWorks Summer Construction Career Exploration Program will have the opportunity to learn about many career paths in the construction industry. Participants will visit commercial and residential building sites, electrical and carpentry apprenticeships and meet with industry experts. Youth must be between the ages of 17 to 21. However, older youth will be prioritized in the 2019 summer program.
Participants receive training in core soft skills so they can practice professional behaviors and learn how and why it is important to relate to supervisors and co-workers at their work sites. All YouthWorks programs use the Signal Success curriculum to help young people learn and practice the skills that matter at work, at school, and in life.
We are excited about this program and are looking for individuals eager to learn more about a career in construction including becoming OSHA10 safety certified as well as committed to strengthening skills employers require.
